Tryouts are held in the Spring for the next academic year. There is also a Fall walk on evaluation after classes begin. This date will be posted on the website in August
Cheerleaders are selected on the following categories: cheer, fight song, chants, dance, jumps, tumbling, stunts. Each category carries equal weight. Hence over half of our selection criteria (cheer, fight song, chants, and dance) is based solely on game material and how a cheerleader would project in a spirit or game situation. Enthusiasm and projection of personality are especially importanat and are evaluated during these categories.
Standing tumbling skills to be evaluated will be standing back handspring and standing back tuck. Jumps to be evaluated will be triple toe touch, toe touch/back handspring, and pike jump.
Running tumbling skills to be evaluated will be any skills up to round off back handspring, full twisting layout.
